my gas tank is nice and leaky, was wondering if there are any other years or other Chrysler products that use the same tank
Look for 53 & 54 Chrysler 6 cylinder, DeSoto, Dodge, and Plymouth, except station wagons, long wheel base, and trucks.
Have a nice day

Ask the necessary questions since I am sure some sit in the desert without their gas caps.
I have seen others use these folks to have a tank rebuilt. I have not.
My 2 cents.....Trying to find a good used tank will be difficult. Most will be just like yours. I went the "rebuilt" way with my old Packard with mixed results. It's now on it's second rebuild but it did last 10 years the first go around. When you get it back it will have a thick black coating on it so if you are looking for originality you won't get it. Total cost $350. On my current project, which will be a driver, I decided to go with a totally new tank. I took my old tank to a fabricator and had them mock up a new one. Before it was welded solid I took it home and fitted the sending unit, outlet, drain, and fill tube then I took it back and had it welded and pressure tested. Definitely not original but should last a very long time. You even have the option of making it larger for longer range. Total cost $200.

thanks all for the info
I had a stainless steel one made for my desoto suburban. Cost a lot, but I never have to worry about it again.

You might give Big M Salvage out in Williams, CA a call.
We recently bought a '56 Chrysler fuel tank from John for $150 (plus shipping) and it was very clean inside. After it arrived, we took it to our radiator guy and he cooked it out for us.

It's supposed to be fun!

We hit John's every few months if for no other reason to go for a walk in a salvage yard. Those of you that live east of California have no idea how many yards have been closed for enviromental reasons. I think John is living on barrowed time...

Desert parts can very good. You just need to define what you expect for the money. If the tank has had a cap on it for many years it could be very good. Otherwise, it can be a wild card. Generally, water evaporates very quickly in AZ. I have NO mosquitos in my yard - there are places where the landowners are careless and allow water to sit. Same with a gas tank. Water could sit but the period is much less in AZ. I know ther is nothing definitive here but that is the way it is even when you buy a part from a known Supplier.
