Harry's serial no. shows that his car is Deluxe model built in Detroit. It was the 12,668th Deluxe DeSoto built out of 14,459 built in Detroit during the 1951 model year. The body code 12 indicates the car is a Deluxe Club Coupe. The paint code 360 is for Royal Maroon paint and the trim code 221 is for a brown tweed cloth fabric trim.
The option codes are abbreviated and the abbreviations are read vertically with the option code numbers underneath. I can't identify all the option abbreviations, but I believe the "4" under the code AR indicates the car has a rear center arm rest. The "2" under the other code may be for a plastic steering wheel.
It appears this car was built with a standard transmission (TR- no fluid drive) no clock (EC), no radio (RD), no heater (HR), no lighted hood ornament (HO), no rear seat foam cushion (FC), and no signal lights (SL).
Please correct me if i'm wrong.
Mac
Thanks a lot Mac, I'll pass it on.
