In preparation for the trip to see the car in Chattanooga (same one in Rosemary's thread), I thought I'd ask your advice for areas to pay special attention to. Places to watch out for rust, hard to replace (yet usually missing) pieces, things of importance to look for, etc. Besides test driving one in Indiana, I've no experience at all with this car.
From what I can tell, it should be mostly complete; it's just been sitting in a garage for a couple (few?) decades. Sounds like it was out of the sun and, barring mice and other critters, the interior might be better than one could reasonably hope for a car that hasn't been used in a long time. As for the rest of the car, who knows. They said there wasn't any rust but we'll see when we get there. If I get it, I expect I would have to completely disassemble the thing, clean and check everything, repaint what needs it, and reassemble it anyway.

No matter what stop at NAPA for some new Wind Shield Wiper Replacement Blades
before you leave.
The same NAPA will have all the Spark Plug Wires, hoses and belts ... and Engine
Oil Filter.
The Chattanooga WalMart will have Spark Plugs, Brake Fluid ( DOT 4 is better than DOT 3 ), Engine Oils and Engine Cooling Anti-Freeze. They will also have an tool set ( metric sizes not needed ) - duct tape - and other emer road side items.
