Hi, one of the Hood hinges on my 49 is suspect, looks like one of the links is ready to go, come apart, not sure what happened but I should replace it. I will start looking for a replacement so I have it in the spring of the year. Do I need to strap it down so it doesn't spring up and cause damage when I replace it? As I remember it un-screws from the inside of the car? I do have a manual at home, I just thought I would post and see what people think. I'm afraid if I don't replace it soon it will cause damage if it fails. Does anyone have a spare hinge? It is the passenger side. Thanks,
Dave
As you may have figured out by now the hinges are held in place with three bolts and they are inside the car.
My car is a 50 Club Coupe but I think yours is the same hinge.
Last year I send off a spare set I had to be rebuilt and they came back looking great and installed without issue. Cost was under $300 for the pair, I do not recall the exact price. I no longer have the spare set.
Let me know if you want the name of the folks that did the work, it was just a few weeks to turn them around.

Darin, does the spring repair company just fix broken springs or can they somehow restore the spring force ( I do not recall whether these are tension or compression)? The hood wants to sag so I need to prop it up so no one hits their head when I have the hood open. I do not know if I could wish to find some NOS ones. Thank you for any info you have.
