Anyone have a good part number for cap and rotor for a 1949 Desoto or 1950 Desoto Auto-Lite IAP-4102C-1 Distributor?
I cannot find a NAPA or Standard or any other maker for one.
Thanks all, James
Unless I'm missing something, these are readily available. I don't have a '50 parts book.
Good Luck
Steve
Most part houses have gone all electronic. The database at NAPA and at O'reilly are both incorrect. Even Rock Auto is wrong and/or does not show it.
There are three basic distributors used on the six's between 1946 and late 1950. They are the IGS, IAP, and IAT. All have different caps.
With help from the tech at Standard Motor Products, which keeps his paper books going back decades...
Be advised that many of the computerized items that come up are not correct for the late 1940's early 1950's ignition parts. We are seeing a lot of garbage in garbage out issues. I have a friend that just got a set of points for his 1946 Chrysler 8 and they are clearly wrong. NAPA says that what the computer says!
Best, James
