Hi All, We brought our 47 home from the body shop Sunday after a long restoration. Now to get the interior done.

Paul

Nice work!

Very impressive and stately looking DeSoto.

Hope to see it in person sometime soon.

I must commend you Paul. That was a lot of work to take care of. Do you have a shop or source to create (cut, roll, and bend) the sheet metal pieces? Thank you for sharing.

Paul, This was done by a small shop in Oconee Illinois. They do one restoration at a time. There main work is on modern cars. They did all of the metal work and painting, this car took 4 two foot by 4 foot sheets of metal, I did the engine rebuild myself plus a lot of the small stuff. I don't know how many hours I have in it but it is a lot, the owner told me anything I could do would save me money. All most all of the stainless trim was gone and I got most of it from Ebay and polished it myself, I also did the woodgraining of the interior myself. This was my wifes dads car. It sat behind a barn for 15 to 20 years before her brother gave it to her. If it wasn't her dads car, we probably would not have restored it.

Paul

Paul, that is cool. I t seems a lot of folks keep their father's, grandfather's or other sentimental cars. I have a 53 my grandfather owned. I did not have to do body work but their were many bits and pieces that needed repair or replacement. There are still things to do but they are easy compared to body and interior work. Now to enjoy. Thank you for sharing.
