On my 47 I am restoring there is a welting that goes across the cowl on top of the firewall. In the center of the cowl there is a big dip in the cowl. How is this sealed? Is the welting cut on both sides of this? What is used to keep water from running down this dip onto the top of the engine? On my 48 parts car the welting looks like it was cut and there is a blob of something is the dip but I can't tell what it is.

Paul

Here is The Hood as shown Group 15 in The Parts Book.

Is # 15-03-5 ( top center ) what you are speaking of ?

Or better yet --- The Weather Strip ( #23-61-110 ) around The Cowl
Ventilator Lid ( # 23-61-29 ) ???

Rodger, it is not the vent seal, it is welting between the rear of the hood and the cowl. As I told Tim, I will be taking a picture tomarrow . I will try to post it here, if I can't get it to post I will email it to Tim and you also, if you want to email me the picture from the parts book, my address is pautwi6139@consolidated.net

Here's what you are after. It's an odd shape, sort of like a slice of melon. It measures 1.125"x1.125"x7.5" but like I said, it's an odd crescent shape.

That's it Tim. I just found one at Oldmoparts.com. Now I need the small weatherstrip at the bottom of the front doors that screws to the body, Bernbaums's does not have them and Steele Rubber does not have them. I also looked at Roberts Motor Parts with no luck. If you have any ideas let me know. Thanks for the come back.

Not sure what you are after. There are screw on w/s at the front vertical area of the front doors.

Yes, Tim, Your picture is what I am looking for. Do you know where I can get them? The picture I posted is a weather strip at the front bottom of the doors and screwed on to the body, they are avalable from Steele Rubber. Thanks, Paul

Are yours missing? I don't know where to get new one's but I do have a set off my 48 parts car I'd be willing to sell. The other option would be to continue the door w/s all the way around the door. Yes, not original but hard to see. Not sure why they used the screw on w/s.

Tim, I also have a 48 parts car, I got the weatherstrip of of it. It is not the best but it will work. Thanks for your help. I was thinking of fixing this car up for a driver but the more I look at it it is just to rusty to do that. Some one on here was wanting some parts, I don't remember who it was, If any one s is interested in something let me know.

Not trying to hijack this post but yes I do but I'm not ready to sell it now. I will later. They come in 2 pieces, base and ornament. I have the chrome stripped off my ornament and plan on using it to make a clear Lucite ornament. Assuming I am successful I'll make extras. I do have an extra base I'd sell but that probably won't do you much good. I sent you a separate email, I hope, with one on Ebay. They are on there all the time. I have a feeling all the ones stripped off the cars you've seen are now on Ebay! PM me if you have any questions.
