Hello Club!
What is the difference between the Carter EG1 and EG2 used on 1942 DeSotos? Mine has an EG2 on it but I've also found references for the EG1...What is the difference, does it have to do with the transmission? I have the Simplimatic trans with Fluid Drive and tip-toe shift, which brings me to my related question. My shop manual describes a standard trans (which I don't have) and also lists a Simplimatic trans AND tip-toe shift trans. From the descriptions in the shop manual I have the Simplimatic with tip-toe shift and fluid drive. The owners manual does not mention "tip-toe" shift however, only manual (with and w/o Power Shift) and Simplimatic with Fluid Drive as an option. I keep thinking that Simplimatic and Tip-Toe are the same thing but that can't be if they have two different sections in the shop manual. How is automatic shifting done (from a driving perspective) with Simplimatic without tip-toe? The shop manual just states that it does happen, no explanation. Thank you!
