Hi
Does anyone know for sure if turn signals were an option for the 1939 DeSoto??? I have seen pictures of 39's with the light above the headlight, very similar to the 1940 models. Was this a 40 add on for 39, like the switch over to sealed beam headlights or did Chrysler actually offer them??? I have the accessory catalog and nothing is mentioned. I want to keep my car original and not add what was not offered.

In the "Parts for Accessories" section of the parts book, parts are shown for directional signals back to the 1941 model year. There are references for parts for other accessories which date back to the 1936 model year. This makes me think that the turn signal accessory was not an option until the 1941 model year.

Chris,
My standard catalog makes mention of parking lights for the 1940 model year, but not turn signals. The 1939 model year does not mention either. Based on this, I tend to agree with the good Mr George.
