According to the Classic Car Data Base the ratio of all 1939 models is 4.1 to 1. Suggest you Google the Classic Car Data Base to check other years. Good hunting.

And, according to The Standard Catalog of Chrysler 1924-1990, it looks like De Soto used the same rear axle unit on standard wheel base models from 1936 (S-1) through 1941. Same ratio 4.1:1, same wheel and tire size.

Hola Gent's

I used The De Soto Club's Tech Advisor's and between them it is learned:

1. Every 1936 to 1941 De Soto ( and Six Cylinder Chrysler ) all used
the same Rear Axle and Brakes.

2. They all used either:

4.1:1 -- Standard Three Speed Manual Transmission
..4.3:1 -- The above with "Over-Drive"

or
...4.5:1 -- The Seven Passenger Sedan with "over-drive".

Thank You for each of you in helping me to confirm the information.

Rodger & Gabby
