This is my 1st ever post to any message board 
We found a beautiful 2 door Desoto sportsman coupe. Behind the drivers seat is the spare tire space and behind the passengers seat is the trap door to the trunk for fishing rods or golf clubs. This car has been on a hoist since 1972, -0- rust, dings or dents. The interior is fully in tact. The glass will have to be replaced and we will paint back to original color. The engine is another story- it was rebuilt and was ready to be installed when unfortunately the owner was killed in a snow mobile accident. His wife wanted to get rid of everything and my husband happened to be in the right place at the right time. We are going to have the engine reinstalled next week and will move forward from there. I can not find any like/kind/similar vehicles like this one. Any guidance or suggestions would be appreciated. I did try to attach pictures but it said the file is to big. Thank you! Anna

Anna, welcome to the forum and the delightful world of Desoto. I saw your post on face book and discovered you are in Michigan. You are in fact only about 50 miles from us. I hope you will join the National Desoto Club and then join our Great Lakes Chapter. I sent a friends request on face book and would like to send information on our GLC. I too wish to welcome both of you to the wonderful world of De Soto ownership. Even though I live south of you down in Ohio, I have been fortunate enough to make it to a few of the Great Lakes Chapter meetings - they're a great group of people, and are very helpful when it comes to keeping your De Soto on the road.
It seems that you have a very rare car - even for De Sotos! Of the 26 De Sotos listed in the NDC's 2016 roster issue for the 1939 model year, none of them are identified as being a Sportsman. (As far as that goes, in Don Butler's book, The Plymouth and DeSoto Story, the Sportsman model isn't even discussed until 1940, and then only as a top-of-the-line 4-door sedan.) So I'm really looking forward to you attaching a photo and seeing what you have.
