Lots of great pictures! As someone with a "newer" DeSoto, I am kind of intrigued by the process of the restoring that roof with the wood slats and the top coating. What type of material goes on top of the wood to create the full, sealed roof?
So the wood slats are an oak. Over the oak is a tight hole chicken wire. Then I put down a 1/4" double foil face insulation that came with my steel building kit. This worked well to make it smooth. Then what I used was a tonneau cover that my boss threw away. I have seen the correct material but this was free and good practice if it didn't work out. I will get a better picture of it now it has shrunk into place.
Awesome stuff! Pardon my ignorance, do you know what the original method was? Is it similar to what you're doing or something completely different? I admit that I don't know much about the '29's, but I am always looking to learn!
it was a very similar process. They did use chicken wire and I believe burlap then a vinyl top which looks similar to the tonneau cover that I used. The original surface was a little more grainy kind of like a running board cover or vinyl floor covering. Then the rain drip edge is full of holes and you nail it to the wooden roof frame
Some pictures of the seats installed.
And the tonneau top
Headliner again and a pic of the rear seat panels I made.
Holy smokes, you are one super achiever! Can't wait to see the whole car completed.

Are you bringing your 29 to the convention in July?
I am not. We will see next year.
And just like that, the car is starting to look complete once more! Nice work on getting the interior and roof wrapped up!
