So the bearings and block are at the machine shop for line boaring and the cylinders are being punched .125 over. The head was decked .080 and the block trued up. I should get it back middle of next week. Then block paint starts.
Ran into a snag today. Good news is bearings are done at the machine shop. Bad news follows good news. While surfacing the block a crack was found. Upon magna flux 2 cracks were discovered.
That's unfortunate, especially as it impedes the progress you have been making. Do you have any leads on a replacement?
So I have the machine shop drilling and pinning the cracks and resurfacing the block. I will pick it up tomorrow and post pictures.
Got the block back today, my machine shop did well.
That's very fortunate you were able to save the block!
Paint!!!!
Tomorrow the cam gets installed.
Looking good! It's always nice to see a fresh engine.
I just pulled the motor out of my '66 Fury (383 4 bbl) for some major freshening up and going through after sitting for about 10 years. It's inspiring to see the rate at which you're making progress on yours!
I appreciate it. Any motivation or help I provide just keeps the hobby going. So the big plan, wait for it, is that my wife will assemble the rest of the engine. She wants to be able to say she rebuilt the engine and I'm good with that.
@williamphillips that's awesome that she wants to be a part of the process! Kudos to her!
