Board Packet 425 (19 April 2019)
BOARD PACKET 425
Motion 424.1 – Provide $1,000.00 to Tim Bowers as an advance for our 2019 Convention. – Noble
Yes __Lyman, Pitchford, Cochran, Mehr, Overley, Youngblood, Noble___
No _ ___
MOTIONS UP FOR THEIR VOTE:
Motion 423.1 – Accept the attached 2018 YTD Treasurer’s Report presented by Pitchford. – Noble
Rationale: Annual treasurer’s report showing how our club is doing finically. – Noble
There always seems to be "anomalies" (moving the library), but we had a net gain for 2018! Nice to see that we exceeded expectations for renewals, and almost made projections for new members. Is it possible we saw a bump in multi-year renewal revenue due to an announcement of club dues going up?
We also had a significant overage on the Club Store. Does this mean that we are now well stocked with inventory, and will be able to generate income on that inventory when it sells? – Bowers
I think it's good we ended up flat with the expense of the library move. Headed in right direction. – Mehr
The 2018 YTD Treasurer’s Report was attached in Board Packet 423. There were no additional comments nor questions on this report in the last Board Packet, so I have placed it up for its vote. – Noble
No _ ___
(These next two sections are items from our convention meetings that I feel we need to keep track of. – Noble)
FROM OUR OPEN MEETING:
Posting Club Store Items on Our Website – Bodnar asked if this is possible; Bowers said that he’s working on it.
Comments from Board Packet 423:
Just an update about the website and having the club store online... I am optimistic that with local hosting and tech support, some of these long stagnant goals can come to fruition. Having local help that I can sit across a table from will go a long way to shorten the educational curve on creating and maintaining the site. – Bowers
FROM OUR REGULAR MEETING:
Technical Advisors – Are we still missing a Tech Advisor for the 1953 model year?
Parts Replacement Coordinator – Bowers stated that he’s trying to get an NDC member to take on the Parts Replacement Coordinator position – any progress?
Comments from Board Packet 419:
James Diaz used to be the Salvage Yard coordinator, and he has rejoined the club and indicated that he would like to step back in this role. I believe an email has been sent to him asking him to write up a new letter or introduction for the magazine. I'll follow up and see where things are at. (Bowers)
Motion 425.1 Make the online club store inventory available for purchase to members and non-members. – Bowers
Rationale: With the hopefully soon to be launched "new" website, I'm looking forward to realizing some goals like having the club store online. What I hope to happen is that the store can provide revenue from customers outside of our membership, and is why I have in the past asked for discussion about "non club specific" DeSoto items being available in the store for purchase. – Bowers
I’ve submitted an article to the editors of our club’s magazine asking for Trustee nominations from the club’s membership. The three Trustees whose terms are up this year are Tim Bowers, Fred Mehr, and Joe Youngblood. If you are one of these three Trustees, and you plan to run for re-election, please let me know; thanks. – Noble
Comments from Board Packet 423:
I will submit my name for re-election. – Bowers
I will NOT be running for the NDC board. – Youngblood
I will run for re-election. – Mehr
We currently have three members running for Trustees – Bodnar, Bowers, and Mehr. It will be interesting to see if we get any additional nominations once the members receive their Jan-Feb issues of the club’s magazine. – Noble
Comments from Board Packet 424:
Gary Dubas has also submitted his nomination for club Trustee. This means that we have four members running for three positions, so an election will be required. The deadline for Trustee nominations was 12 April, so I will write the voting ballots for our editors and get it to them soon. – Noble
It’s my understanding that our web-site is back up and running. I haven’t yet tried it out – it’s on my list of things to do – but a big Thank You to Tim for all of his hard work on getting this back up and running.
