Best Antique Car Insurance

Eminent Member

Just got a notice that Nationwide/Hagerty is shifting my policy to Essentia Ins. Co.  They claim "same benefits."  Does anyone have any recommendations for better/best insurance for DeSotos?

Rich Hartung,  I use Grundy Insurance company over in Hatboro, PA.  All of the Antique car insurance companies are good so long as you are getting the agreed valued on your car policy.  Some people like JC Taylor, Congdon and Skelly, Grundy, Hagert. It all depends on the cost nd how much you can insure your car for on a agreed value.

But do not use a regular car insurance carrier because they will depreciate the value of the car if it is ever damaged.  Go with one of the specialty carriers.

My State Farm agency has a special form for classic/antique automobiles and allows guaranteed values.  I've had my cars insured with them for 40 years now and fortunately have not had the need for claims.

John....the "best" insurance is that which you never need to use.  I've used J.C. Taylor on my '55 since acquiring it in the early '80's.  Thankfully never had to file a claim.  Like our daily driver insurance in Kentucky, rates have been increasing recently after many years of slow growth.  I have price shopped Taylor occasionally and cannot find a better deal.  Mine is stated value insurance.

I have used hagerty for many years and have been very happy with them. They have always been very accommodating, I hope I don't receive a notice ,I do not think much of nationwide , and I do know that they merged.    Bill.

I have Haggerty Ins. as well. I've been happy with them so far.  They do have a company called Essentia that I think they underwrite for.  My insurance card has their name on it.
