                        <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I’ve done some research on this, and there seems to be consensus for replacing the field coils in a six volt generator with 12 volt compatible versions. Does anyone have an opinion on this? Is there an easy way to tell if this has already been done? Would the coils for a ‘56 fit?  Would it be better to simply swap my generator out for a 1956 unit?<br /><br /></p>

The prior owner installed a new 12 volt regulator, but it looks as though the original generator is still in place (tag on unit says 6 volt). My question then: could the generator have been converted to 12v, or will it need to be replaced with a 12 volt generator?</p>]]></content:encoded>
