I'm almost afraid to ask this question for fear of starting an argument. Opinions on this are likely to be like noses- everyone has one and they are all different.

Attached is a photo of my 1952 Firedome engine after rebuilding it. I'm pretty sure the engine was silver, and most of the accessories were black. I'm also reasonably sure I have painted the spark plug wire covers that say "DESOTO FIREDOME EIGHT" incorrectly. The question is, what color should they be? In Willem Weertman's book on Chrysler engines, he shows a couple photos from the Chrysler archives of the Jefferson avenue plant where these engines were built. The Chrysler firepower engines seem to have black wire covers. But the Desoto engine line photos are before the covers were installed. There are numerous different paint schemes used on show engines- most with red rocker covers- the engine line photos don't show this scheme in production though. So, let's hear some opinions- what color were they?

This is not new to me but I've never seen or read anything regarding the front drum brakes locking up when the pedal is depressed and there is rain or high humidity and the car has been sitting for awhile. Seems like the shoes absorb moisture and become very "grabby". The more the car is driven, the lesser the problem as I believe the moisture in the shoes evaporates with heat. This issue existed with my former '60 Chrysler and now with my '59 DeSoto.

Anyone else have this experience? If so, did you find a solution?

Please advise.

Thanks!

Sometimes correspondence with other forum members is more appropriate to go through Private Messages (PM) rather than over the entire discussion forum.

If you'd like to send another member a PM, below are some steps and images I hope will be helpful. There are several ways to get around finding a member to send a message to, so consider the information below "one way" to get 'er done. Follow the text and the corresponding image below the text.

One quick way to send a PM to a forum member is to find a post by that member. At the bottom of their message, you'll find a "PM" button that will take you directly to the window to compose a message. (image PM page eight)

If you don't have a message from the member to start from, , use the "members" tab at the upper right of your screen when you are in the Message Board (image PM Page 1)

After you click on the Members tab, you'll have an opportunity to "find a member" (image PM Page 2)

Enter the USER NAME of the person you want to message and click the search button (image PM Page 3)

Below the search criteria you'll find the results of your search, and a button to push to create a PM (image PM Page 4)

After clicking the PM button a window will open for you to compose your PM. Notice your selected recipient is already in the "To" field. You can also add more members usernames in the window circled in green. Compose your text in the area provided (yellow text shown) (image PM Page 5)

After writing your message, press the preview, submit, save, or cancel button depending on your preference. (image PM Page 6)

Your message will remain in your outbox until the message is opened. (notice in image 5 that I have 2 messages I sent that have never been opened by my recipient...)

Notice that at the top left of your browser window where your log-in status is indicated that you have notifications as to whether there are PMs in your mailbox.
