The National DeSoto Club needs you, dear Member, to step forward and run for one of three Trustee seats open every year. The Slate of Candidates will be posted in the January/February Issue of DeSoto Adventures, along with an Election ballot. The winners begin their three year terms at the annual Convention that summer. Any member in good standing may run for this challenging but rewarding office. The Board of Trustees is the governing body of the National DeSoto Club. From the Trustees a President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary are chosen. Typically, the body of nine Trustees makes decisions about how the NDC handles its money, chooses the next convention location, and considers and adopts club policy like judging. The Trustees also hear the complaints and praise of the membership, and respond accordingly.
There is but one in-person Trustee meeting per year; it's held at the National convention. If you can't attend, that's ok, you may appoint a proxy to sit for you. The rest of the year, the Board communicates through a monthly board packet, phone conversations, and e-mail. Something interesting is always under discussion.
If you have the time and inclination, please run! Your club needs you.
